In a horrific massacre carried out by the General Security Forces in the Al-Qusour neighborhood of the city of Baniyas, armed personnel stormed civilian homes, vandalized their contents, then gathered the families and executed several of their members in cold blood — including the elderly, women, and children — without discrimination or investigation, while some survived by a miracle. The massacre was documented by one of the survivors who witnessed the killing of her family members and neighbors.

Banias – Al-Qusour neighborhood
On the day of the massacre, we were gathered at my grandmother’s house.
The General Security forces came in and told us: "Get out of your houses."
We relied on God and came down — us, the neighbors, and my grandmother’s household.
As we were going down, they started entering the houses and taking everything that could be taken, and whatever they couldn’t take, they smashed and stomped on..
They brought us down and lined us up — we were 20 people standing side by side.
While they were finishing the destruction, they started bringing us back up the building.
After five minutes, a unit came up the stairs and started saying: “Don’t leave anyone alive,” and kept talking a lot..
After we were brought up, we were all gathered with our neighbors on one floor.
The unit kicked the door with his foot and opened fire on my grandmother and our neighbor. Our neighbor Dakanji was sheltering with us and hiding — he went out to the balcony.
One of them followed him and shot him..
Then they shot our neighbor, Dr. Bassam Sobeh, his wife, and their two children..
One of them came and asked my grandfather, “Are you Alawite?!” He said, “Yes, I am Alawite,” and they immediately shot him without any discussion.
They also shot Miss Khaldieh, her husband, and her daughter.
We were standing next to the bathroom and they started shooting at us in the corridor.
But none of us got hit — it was me, my sister, my mother, my other grandmother, our neighbor, and her two daughters.
They told us: “Throw everything you have — gold, money, phones,” and we gave them everything.
Then my grandmother went up to one of them and asked, “Can’t we help them?” He replied, “No, they’re dead. Go inside before I blow your head off.”
My grandmother came back to us and we stayed among the corpses for five hours waiting for rescue…
The feeling of helplessness is horrifying — I was standing in front of them watching them die in front of me, and I couldn’t do anything. I’m sorry, my family. I miss you so much. May God have mercy on your souls. We are proud of you.

In God’s protection — may God have mercy on their pure souls.
I don’t know how they didn’t feel shame in front of your gray hair, Grandpa. How could they carry weapons against you — how!
I ask God to accept them as martyrs.

This horrifying testimony reveals some of the chapters of the coastal massacres in Banias, where unarmed civilians from several families — including children, women, and the elderly — were deliberately targeted and killed in cold blood, without discrimination. The crime was not limited to murder; it also included looting of property, humiliation, and deliberate destruction of homes. The account exposes practices that violate all human norms and international laws, and confirms the systematic nature of the violence inflicted on civilians. Such crimes clearly fall under crimes against humanity and require accountability for all those responsible, no matter how much time passes.
